Orange barrels in road intersection

If everything goes according to plans, three major traffic disruptions in Streetsboro should be “old news” by late August.

The biggest disruption has been the rebuilding of the intersection of state routes 14 and 43 in the middle of town. In a recent “Streetsboro, That’s My Town” interview, Mayor Glenn Broska stated “We are hoping they can be done by early August.” Work on that project began late last March.

Once the square is reopened, within a week or two the resurfacing of routes 14 and 43 will begin. Broska says that the paving project will not cause major traffic disruptions because that work will be done overnight, generally between 7pm and 5am.

Work on the latest project, reconfiguring the intersection of state route 303 and Diagonal Road from a “Y” to a “T” intersection , began on July 13 closing both roads. The Ohio Department of Transportation projects a 45-day construction period which would re-open both roads by the end of August.

As for the Page Road bridge, the Ohio Turnpike Commission plans to have repairs completed by August 15, re-opening the bridge and the road just in time for school to begin. The bridge was initially struck by a truck driving on the Ohio Turnpike and was closed on February 24.

With all of this going on at the same time. an optimistic Broska says, “The light at the end of the tunnel is that the majority of these projects are all going to end around the same time.”
